A 13-year-old schoolboy was killed when a dump truck hit him while he was crossing the road in Hathazari, Chattogram.
The accident happened at noon on Friday (19 June) in front of the Diamond Touch Community Centre in Hathazari municipality on the Chattogram–Rangamati highway.
The boy, the only son of an expatriate, was a resident of Ward 3, Shaista Khan Para, in Hathazari municipality. He was a seventh-grade student at Hathazari Parbati Model Government High School, it was learned.
According to a family source, he had come there to take part in his sister’s wedding.
According to eyewitnesses, a speeding dump truck hit him as he was crossing the road, and he died on the spot.
After the incident, locals expressed anger and demanded that the administration intervene to control the reckless movement of heavy vehicles on the road.
