Police arrested an alleged drug dealer, Siddique Bepari, 40, with 1,165 yaba pills in a raid in Shibchar, Madaripur.
The raid was carried out on Tuesday morning in the Swasthya Colony area of Ward No. 4 of Shibchar municipality.
Police said that, acting on secret information, a Shibchar police team raided Siddique’s house and arrested him. Based on information he provided, 1,165 yaba pills hidden in a pit dug under the courtyard of the house were recovered.
Locals said Siddique had been involved in drug dealing for about 10 to 15 years and had not stepped away from it despite being warned several times. On hearing that a consignment of yaba had reached his house, they informed police, who raided the house, arrested him and recovered the pills hidden underground.
Shibchar Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamal Hossain said: “A man named Siddique Bepari has been arrested with 1,165 yaba pills. Local residents claim he has long been involved in drug dealing. The legal process in the case is under way.”
