The mother of a person killed in the July uprising called for a letter her son wrote before leaving home to be included in the national curriculum, saying future generations should learn about the sacrifices made during the movement.

She made the appeal while sharing her experience at the opening of the July Uprising Memorial Museum on Wednesday.

Families of people killed and injured in the uprising also called for justice in killings, state recognition and proper respect for July uprising participants, advanced medical treatment for injured people, rehabilitation and effective measures to protect the dignity of bereaved families.

Another bereaved mother asked the prime minister to name a college library after her son, who had been a first-year student, and called for justice and honor for those who took part in the movement.

A student participant said people had joined the streets in 2024 not for personal gain but for a just, humane and discrimination-free Bangladesh. The speaker called for state recognition for people killed and injured in the uprising and transparent, impartial trials for all those involved in killings.

The student also called for a Bangladesh where educated young people are not unemployed, merit is valued, good governance is established, corruption and public suffering are reduced, the environment is protected, and everyone can live safely and with dignity.
