Police have detained nine people in separate raids in Khagrachhari’s Ramgarh on allegations of drug use and erratic behaviour. Cases were filed against them at Ramgarh police station under the Narcotics Control Act, and they were shown arrested and sent to court on Wednesday (10 June) morning.
Earlier, in a raid in the Uttar Garjantali area around midnight on Tuesday, police detained Ala Uddin (29), Abul Kashem (24) and Mithun Nandi (25) on allegations of drug use and erratic behaviour. Then, around 12:50am, Nur Mohammad (32), Chandan Debnath (32), Krishna Chandra Nath (34), Akash Debnath (27), Munna Chandra Nath (28) and Choton Biswas (35) were detained while taking drugs on the roof of the Grameen Bank building in the Master Para area of Ramgarh municipality.
Ramgarh police officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Nazir Alam said the nine were detained in two separate raids on Tuesday night based on secret information, that cases were filed under the Narcotics Control Act, and that they were then shown arrested and produced in court. Police drives against drugs will continue, he said.
