The death of a 14-year-old eighth-grade student in Singair, Manikganj, has raised serious questions as the police investigation appears to have stalled more than two weeks after her body was found.

The girl, a student at a local high school, was expelled along with a male classmate after the two were allegedly found together in a classroom on June 10. School authorities issued transfer certificates to both students.

The girl did not return home from school that day. Six days later, her body was found hanging in a remote bush approximately two kilometers from the school. Parts of the body showed signs of severe trauma.

Her family filed a case at the local police station, naming the school’s headteacher, a laboratory assistant, the male classmate, and several others as accused. The family alleges the classmate and his relatives were involved in her death.

Police have arrested several people, including the headteacher and the lab assistant. However, more than two weeks after the body was discovered, investigators have not clarified the cause or circumstances of death.

Key questions remain unanswered: how did the girl die, how was her body transported to a location so far from the school, and what explains the condition in which the body was found.

The police officer-in-charge said the investigation is ongoing but has not provided further details. The case has drawn significant public attention on social media and in news coverage.
