Eid ul-Adha teaches sacrifice, empathy and humanity
Dr. Mosleh Uddin Farid, lawmaker for the Jashore-2 (Chougachha-Jhikargachha) constituency, said Eid ul-Adha teaches sacrifice, empathy and humanity.
“As a brother, I have brought a small gift for all of you. We want to share the joy of Eid together,” he said.
“Our wishes are many but our means are small. The core lesson of Eid ul-Adha is to stand by the helpless people of society,” Farid said Tuesday morning at a ceremony in the Chougachha upazila parishad hall in Jashore, where humanitarian aid from the Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund was distributed to poor and vulnerable families.
The government is constantly working for the welfare of ordinary people, Farid said.
The event was chaired by Maulana Golam Morshed, the upazila Jamaat amir, and conducted by assistant secretary Maulana Ghias Uddin. Special guests included Mamunur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Chougachha police station; Professor Nuruzzaman Al Mamun, secretary of the Chougachha upazila Jamaat; former panel mayor Master Kamal Ahmed Bishwas, an assistant secretary of the upazila Jamaat; Master Rohidul Islam Khan, another assistant secretary; and Maulana Abdul Khaleq, the municipal Jamaat amir.
Also present were Master Imdadul Haque, finance secretary of the upazila Jamaat; Jamaat leader Maulana Shamsur Rahman; Azizur Rahman, general secretary of the Chougachha press club; journalist M.A. Mannan; amirs and secretaries of various union and municipal Jamaat units; and members of the 400 recipient families.
Government assistance was provided to 400 vulnerable families in the upazila for Eid ul-Adha so they could celebrate the festival in comfort.
