Film actress Yamin Haque Bobby has been granted bail after surrendering in a cheating case. She appeared before the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Joshita Islam on Wednesday (15 July) and applied for bail, arriving in a burqa and sunglasses, accompanied by several people.

After the hearing, the court granted her bail on a Tk 1,000 bond. Dhaka Bar president Advocate Anwar Zahid Bhuiyan took part in the hearing on Bobby’s behalf. Sub-inspector (SI) Moktar of the prosecution branch confirmed the matter.

Earlier, on 12 July, Mehedi Alam Prince, a senior manager of E2i Solutions Limited, filed a cheating case at the capital’s Gulshan Police Station against Bobby and three others. The other accused in the case are BTL’s managing director (MD) Mirza Abul Bashar, deputy general manager Abdul Ahad Miya and admin officer Sohel Rana.

According to the case statement, on 12 November last year Abul Bashar requested a supply of lithium iron batteries for his company. On that basis, five 64-volt, 170-amp batteries, with a total value of Tk 6,72,954, were supplied to BTL’s Gulshan office on 20 November.

The complaint alleges that, instead of paying for the batteries on time, the accused stalled on various pretexts, and that when Mehedi Alam Prince went to claim the money on 11 January this year, he was told he would not be paid and was threatened and forced out of the office. The accused, the complaint further alleges, misappropriated the Tk 6,72,954 for the batteries in a premeditated manner.
