PM Tarique Rahman meets to review Family Card expansion

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has held a meeting to review how the expansion of the Family Card programme is progressing. The prime minister’s office said the meeting took place on Monday in the meeting room of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat.

Chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the meeting discussed the plan and implementation strategy for expanding the Family Card. The prime minister stressed adopting a realistic plan to roll out the programme in phases, making the best use of modern technology, and ensuring effective coordination among all relevant ministries and agencies.

The prime minister’s office press wing said the prime minister had stressed building an accurate and acceptable database to deliver Family Card benefits to the country’s genuine beneficiaries in an effective, transparent and error-free way, and had directed those concerned to ensure the highest transparency and accountability at every stage of data collection, verification and beneficiary selection. Tarique Rahman launched the Family Card programme, one of his election pledges, after forming the government.

Those present included Social Welfare Minister AZM Zahid Hossain, State Minister Farzana Sharmin, the prime minister’s adviser Mahdi Amin, the prime minister’s principal secretary ABM Abdus Sattar, the prime minister’s office chief SDG coordinator Professor SM Abdul Awal, and BNP executive committee special secretary Belayet Hossain Mridha, along with senior officials of the relevant ministries and offices.
