Man missing for three days found dead in Tangail jute field

The partially decomposed body of a man who had been missing for three days was recovered from a jute field in Nagarpur upazila, Tangail, on Wednesday (July 1).

Police recovered the body of Shawkat Molla, 55, around noon from a jute field belonging to Gazi Kabir in Binnaojha village, Shahbatpur union. Molla was the son of the late Jayed Ali Molla of Nalsondhya village in the same union.

Locals spotted the body in the field and alerted the family, who identified the deceased at the scene. Police were then called and recovered the body, sending it to the morgue for autopsy.

The victim’s cousin, Md. Aynal Molla, 43, said Shawkat had been missing for three days. “Around 1 p.m. today, we heard a body had been found in Binnaojha village. When we went there, I saw it was my brother’s body,” he said.

Nagarpur OC Md. Johurul Islam said the motive behind the death has not yet been established. “The motive will be known after the investigation,” he said. An inquest report has been prepared and the body has been sent for autopsy.
