DSE index falls, turnover crosses Tk 1,388 crore

The country’s premier bourse, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), saw a downward trend in its price index on Tuesday (July 7), the third trading day of the week. Turnover, however, exceeded Tk 1,388 crore.

DSE’s market review showed 45,229,6107 shares and mutual fund units of 390 companies were traded on the day. Total turnover for the day stood at Tk 1,388,03,63,399.

By the close of trading, DSE’s key index, DSEX, fell 18.24 points from the previous trading day to close at 5,781.27 points. The DSE-30 index fell 10.68 points to 2,181.85 points. However, the Shariah-based index, DSES, rose 1.87 points to 1,184.88 points.

Among the companies traded, 160 saw share and unit prices rise, 180 fell, and 50 remained unchanged.

The top 10 companies by turnover were Beximco Pharma, Malek Spinning, BRAC Bank, Apex Spinning, ITC, Simtex, Dragon Sweater, Beximco Limited, IPDC and Summit Alliance Port.

The top 10 gainers were MBL 1st Mutual Fund, Tosrifa Industries, Popular Life 1st Mutual Fund, ABB 1st Mutual Fund, AIBL 1st Islamic Mutual Fund, NCC Bank Mutual Fund, IFIC 1st Mutual Fund, Green Delta Mutual Fund, IFIL Islamic Mutual Fund-1 and Sharp Industries.

The top losers were International Leasing, Phoenix Finance, FAS Finance, Peoples Leasing, Midas Finance, Premier Leasing, Genex Infosys, Generation Next, Tung Hai Knitting and ML Dyeing.
