A schoolboy named Ali Hossain has been killed by lightning in Matmura village of Meherpur’s Gangni upazila. Ali Hossain, of Old Matmura village, was the son of Malaysia expatriate Yunus Ali and a tenth-grade student at Baot Solaimania Secondary School.
At about 3:30pm on Wednesday, while he was playing football with several friends on a field in Old Matmura village during light drizzle, a sudden lightning strike left Ali Hossain critically injured. He was rescued and taken to a local clinic in Bamandi, where the doctor declared him dead. Gangni police officer-in-charge (OC) Uttam Kumar Das confirmed the information.
