Local residents said the cattle-laden vehicle was traveling from Meherpur with the driver and traders toward the Alamdanga cattle market in Chuadanga. Near Raipur Bazar, the driver lost control while swerving to avoid an oncoming motorcycle, causing the vehicle to overturn and trapping the passengers and cattle beneath it.
Local residents quickly rescued the injured and took them to Gangni Upazila Health Complex, where the attending physician declared driver Ujjal Hossain dead. Four of the injured were sent to Kushtia Medical College Hospital and another four to Meherpur 250-Bed General Hospital for advanced treatment. The rest remain under treatment at Gangni Upazila Health Complex.
Gangni police station officer-in-charge Muhaddid Murshed Chowdhury confirmed the incident, saying police inspected the scene after being notified. The illegal vehicle involved in the accident has been seized. The injured are receiving treatment, and arrangements have also been made for treating the injured cattle.
