After serving two months as president of the ad-hoc committee, Tamim Iqbal has won the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) election to become its president. On Sunday (7 June), at the BCB office at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Tamim first became a director with the highest 73 votes from the club category. The former national captain was then elected president by the directors’ vote. No vote was needed for the presidency, as Tamim was the only candidate, so he takes charge as the BCB’s 18th — and sixth elected — president. Fahim Sinha became vice-president.
The elected BCB directors are, in Category 1: Saeed Bin Zaman and S M Abdullah Al Fuad (Dhaka Division); Minhajul Abedin and Moin Uddin Chowdhury (Chattogram Division); Shafiqul Alam and Shantanu Islam (Khulna Division); Mir Shakrul Alam (Rajshahi Division); Mirza Faisal Amin (Rangpur Division); Abdul Kaiyum Chowdhury (Sylhet Division); and Mizanur Rahman (Barishal Division). In Category 2: Tamim Iqbal, Masuduzzaman, Fahim Sinha, Asif Rabbani, Yasir Mohammad Faisal Ashik, Mirza Yasir Abbas, Israfil Khosru, Rafiqul Islam, Sarkar Mahbub Ahmed Shamim, Shanian Tanim, Saeed Ibrahim Ahmed and Sakif Ahmed. In Category 3: Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir.
