Iran’s parliament speaker and top negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has warned the United States that the era of one-sided deals is over. In a post on the social platform X, Ghalibaf said: “There is no more era of one-sided deals. We said before, keep your promises, or you will have to pay the price. That reality has now come to stand before us.”
His post was accompanied by an image of Clause 5 of the memorandum of understanding, which mentions the reopening of the Hormuz Strait. In that clause, the phrase “the Islamic Republic of Iran will take the necessary measures” was specially emphasized.
The recent attacks and tension sprang from the disagreement between the United States and Iran over the control and management of shipping in the Hormuz Strait.
