Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman has called on party leaders and workers not to spread disorder in society through provocative speech.
He made the remarks on Saturday (8 August) afternoon at a national ulama representatives’ conference titled “Not discord — let us build the Bangladesh of tomorrow through unity”, organised by the central Ulama Department of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at the IDEB building in the capital’s Kakrail.
The Jamaat Amir also said that in today’s society obstacles are bound to come when the truth is spoken, but those obstacles must be overcome to move forward. He said Jamaat would not compromise with any oppressor in building the country on the basis of justice.
Earlier, after visiting an exhibition on July at the government guesthouse on Minto Road, the Jamaat Amir alleged that the BNP, having come to power, had forgotten its promise of reform.
