Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the recent agreement between Iran and the United States has created an atmosphere of relief in the international arena. He described the development as a positive message for the world.
Speaking after a meeting with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Istanbul, Erdogan praised Pakistan’s mediation role. He said the memorandum of understanding signed between Tehran and Washington last month, under which Iran agreed to abandon its nuclear weapons program under IAEA supervision while retaining the right to develop civilian nuclear energy, represents significant progress.
Under the deal, the US removed Iran from its “maximum pressure” designation and a 60-day negotiation period has begun.
Erdogan also said he is closely watching Israel’s recent actions, adding that it is unacceptable for the current Israeli government’s war-oriented policy to push the region toward conflict, bloodshed, and instability once again.
