Three people, including a woman, were killed and at least 20 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck in Gopalganj. The accident occurred Tuesday afternoon on the Gopalganj-Tekerhat regional highway, in the Baulatoli area of Sadar upazila.
Shafiul Alam, in-charge of the Baulatoli police outpost, said a bus traveling from Tekerhat to Gopalganj collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction as it reached the Baulatoli area. The bus lost control after the collision and fell into a ditch beside the road.
Three people, including a woman, were killed at the scene, while at least 20 others were injured. After being alerted to the accident, police and fire service personnel went to the scene and, with the help of local residents, recovered the dead and injured.
Police said the bodies of those killed have been sent to the hospital. The death toll is feared to rise further. Legal action will be taken in connection with the incident.
