BEIJING — U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iran during a visit to China, saying he is losing patience with Tehran.

The threat came after Trump held talks Thursday, May 14, with Chinese President Xi Jinping about the Iran war and following reports that Iranian forces had seized a ship near the United Arab Emirates coast.

The White House said Thursday that Trump and Xi agreed in their Beijing meeting to keep the Strait of Hormuz open. The critical waterway has been closed since Feb. 28, triggering a widespread global energy crisis.

In an interview with Fox News released Thursday night, Trump said: “I will not be patient much longer. They should come to an agreement.” On the issue of Iran’s secret stockpile of enriched uranium, Trump said, “Actually, I would like to get it. The United States needs to secure it, even if just for public relations purposes.”

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social early Friday from Beijing, Trump said U.S. military operations against Iran would continue.

Iran responded sharply to Trump’s remarks. Iran’s army chief, Maj. Gen. Amir Hatami, said operations would continue “to the last drop of blood” until complete victory was achieved.
