Bangladesh Bank has given four financial institutions a maximum of three months to restructure and ensure repayment of depositors’ funds under Section 15 of the Bank Resolution Act, 2025.

The deadline was set based on commitments from the institutions’ boards of directors to return the entities from non-viable to viable status, according to a Bangladesh Bank board decision.

If the institutions fail to meet any of the conditions within three months, the Bank Resolution Division will initiate resolution proceedings under the Act.

The four institutions are: Prime Finance and Investment Limited, GSP Finance Company (Bangladesh) Limited, Bangladesh Industrial Finance Company Limited (BIFC), and Premier Leasing and Finance Limited.

Bangladesh Bank said the institutions must inject new capital through their boards and sponsor shareholders, ensure adequate liquidity, sell assets, recover outstanding loans, and reschedule or settle classified loans to reduce the non-performing loan ratio and ensure repayment of general and individual depositors’ funds within the deadline.
