Bangladesh sends 1,100 kilograms of mangoes to West Bengal and Tripura leaders

The Bangladesh government has sent 1,100 kilograms of mangoes as a goodwill gift to West Bengal Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, along with dignitaries and senior officials in both Indian states.

The mangoes, Amrapali and Haribhanga varieties, were dispatched on Tuesday afternoon through two border crossings. Five hundred kilograms in 100 cartons were sent via the Benapole border in Jessore to the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, while 600 kilograms in 120 cartons were sent via the Akhaura land port in Brahmanbaria to the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala.

Of the total, 100 kilograms were earmarked for each of the two chief ministers. The remaining mangoes will be distributed among prominent individuals and senior officials in the two states.

Abu Talha, deputy director of the quarantine division at the Department of Agricultural Extension, confirmed the shipment through Benapole. The mangoes were sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
