DHAKA — Storm winds of up to 60 km/h may pass over Dhaka and four other regions on Friday evening, the Meteorological Department said in a warning issued for the country’s inland river ports.
Between 4 p.m. and 1 a.m., gusty winds from the west and northwest could blow at speeds of 45 to 60 km/h over Dhaka, Tangail, Mymensingh, Cumilla and Sylhet regions, the warning said. Rain and thunderstorms are also likely during that period. River ports in those areas have been told to display warning signal No. 1.
In a separate 24-hour forecast issued at 9 a.m. Friday, the department said temporary gusty winds, lightning and rain or thunderstorms are possible in one or two places in the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions. Skies are likely to be partly cloudy elsewhere, with weather mostly dry, the department said.
