DHAKA — The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has raised the consumer price of furnace oil by 24.59 taka per liter, effective from midnight Sunday, April 12.

The retail price of furnace oil supplied by Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) will rise from 70.10 taka to 94.69 taka per liter.

In a notice, BERC said the price adjustment was based on the average Platts rate for furnace oil from March 1 to April 12, against the backdrop of the conflict in the Middle East, and on the FOB price of crude oil imported in February 2026. The commission cited its authority under sections 22(b) and 34 of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act, 2003.

Furnace oil is mainly used by the Bangladesh Power Development Board, public and private power plants, and industrial and other consumers for electricity generation.
