Bangladesh releases 2026 Alim exam schedule

DHAKA — Bangladesh’s Madrasa Education Board has released the schedule for the 2026 Alim exams. The exams will begin July 2 and end Aug. 8, running from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.

The board published the routine on its website on Saturday.

The exams will open on the first day with the Holy Quran paper. The final written exam, on Aug. 8, will be higher mathematics second paper. Practical exams will run from Aug. 9 to Aug. 14. Practical exam scores must be sent to the board by Aug. 15.

Special instructions to candidates require students to take their seats in the exam hall at least 30 minutes before the start. Multiple-choice questions will be administered first, followed by creative or essay-type questions. The 30-mark multiple-choice section will last 30 minutes, and the 70-mark creative section will last 2 hours and 30 minutes.

For subjects with a practical component, the 25-mark multiple-choice section will last 25 minutes and the 50-mark creative section will last 2 hours and 35 minutes. The exam will run without break for the time stated on the question paper, with no interval between the multiple-choice and creative sections.

Question and answer paper distribution for exams starting at 10 a.m. will follow a set timetable. Blank answer sheets and multiple-choice OMR sheets will be distributed at 9:30 a.m., multiple-choice question papers at 10 a.m., and multiple-choice OMR sheets will be collected and creative question papers distributed at 10:30 a.m. The timing for the 25-mark multiple-choice section is 10:25 a.m., and 10:30 a.m. for the 30-mark section.

Candidates will collect their admission cards from their madrasa heads at least seven days before the exam starts. Each candidate must write the roll number, registration number and subject code on the supplied answer sheets and OMR forms and fill in the bubbles with a black ballpoint pen. Writing in the margins or folding the answer sheets is not allowed.

For subjects with practical components, candidates must pass the theoretical, multiple-choice and practical parts separately. Each candidate may sit only for the subjects listed on their registration card and admission card. Practical and oral exams will be held at the respective centers. If a center’s madrasa does not have a science section, practical exams will be held at the nearest madrasa with a science section.

Candidates may use ordinary scientific calculators that are not programmable. Programmable calculators are not allowed.

No one other than the duty officer may bring or use a mobile phone in the exam center. The duty officer may use an ordinary non-Android mobile phone for communication. The same signature must be used in the theoretical, creative, multiple-choice, practical and oral exams. The candidate’s signature will be treated as the authoritative record of attendance. Oral exams will be held for the Mujabbid Mahir division’s Qiraat-e-Tartil, subject code 234, and Qiraat-e-Hadr, subject code 235. After results are published, candidates may apply online within the time set by the board to have their answer scripts re-evaluated.
