The 11-party alliance has announced a long-march programme demanding implementation of the referendum verdict. Opposition leader and Jamaat-e-Islami chief Dr Shafiqur Rahman announced the programme on Thursday afternoon from a sit-in at Muktangan in the capital.
The announced programme includes a long march from Dhaka to Chattogram by road on 5 September.
Other events are a long march from Dhaka to Rangpur by road on 19 September; from Dhaka to Khulna by road on 10 October; from Dhaka to Sylhet by rail on 24 October; and a grand rally in Dhaka on 14 November.
Leaders of the 11-party alliance said the active participation and all-out cooperation of people at all levels was needed to make these programmes a success, in the interest of establishing people’s legitimate rights and of the country and its people.
