Six more children died of measles symptoms in the country in the past 24 hours, though no confirmed measles death was reported over the period.
The figures were given in the Directorate General of Health Services’ updated measles report on Saturday (27 June) afternoon.
The notice said six children had died of measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, but no child had died of confirmed measles over the period.
It said 615 children had died of measles symptoms across the country since 15 March, and 93 children of confirmed measles over the same period — meaning a total of 708 children have so far died of measles or its symptoms.
In the past 24 hours, 45 children were confirmed with measles, while the number of patients with measles symptoms was 744. In all, 789 people were infected with measles or its symptoms over the period.
According to the data, the total number of suspected measles patients from 15 March to date is 98,266, and confirmed measles patients 11,594. Of these, a total of 81,955 patients were hospitalised, of whom 78,287 recovered and returned home.
