Five more children died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services said in its daily measles update on Thursday afternoon.
No confirmed measles deaths were reported in the same period. However, 1,119 children were newly infected — 154 with confirmed measles and 965 with measles-like symptoms.
Since March 15, a total of 724 children have died: 93 from confirmed measles and 631 with measles symptoms. The total number of suspected measles cases has reached 102,993, with 12,286 confirmed.
In the past 24 hours, 902 children were newly admitted to hospitals, while 877 were discharged. Since the outbreak began, 86,411 patients have been hospitalized, of whom 82,759 have been discharged.
