The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised the price of gold jewellery, including VAT, by up to Tk 4,374 per bhori in the domestic market.
The new prices took effect from 10am on Saturday (8 August).
BAJUS said in a notice that the decision to set the new gold prices was taken at a meeting of its standing committee on pricing and price monitoring at 9am on Saturday.
According to the new price list, the price of the best-quality, or 22-carat, gold jewellery, including VAT, has been set at Tk 2,34,038 per bhori (11.664 grams). Yesterday this price was Tk 2,29,664.
The new price of 21-carat gold is Tk 2,23,541 per bhori. 18-carat gold will sell at Tk 1,91,931 per bhori. And the new price of traditional-method gold has been set at Tk 1,56,822 per bhori.
Although gold prices were raised, silver prices remain unchanged. The price of one bhori of 22-carat silver is Tk 4,899.
Besides, the price of 21-carat silver is Tk 4,666 per bhori, 18-carat is Tk 4,024 per bhori, and traditional-method silver is Tk 3,266 per bhori.
