A total of 117,177 students from 570 colleges are sitting for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Jessore, which began on Thursday (July 2).
Of the total, 56,988 are male and 60,189 are female, meaning female students outnumber males for another year. Jessore board examination controller Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Matin confirmed the figures, saying all preparations for a fair, free, and cheating-free examination have been completed. A board representative will be included in each vigilance team from the first day.
According to the board, last year 116,809 students sat for the exam — 58,179 male and 58,630 female. The total has increased by 368 this year, with female students rising by 1,559 and male students declining by 1,191.
