A cat strayed onto the metro rail line this time. As a result, train services were suspended briefly. The metro rail resumed once the cat was rescued. The incident occurred at the capital’s Shahbagh metro rail station around 11:40 a.m. on Saturday.
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), the agency that operates the metro rail, said the presence of any animal on the high-power electric line can cause a major accident. Train services were therefore suspended temporarily to ensure complete safety.
Earlier, trains have been halted at various times for reasons including electric wires falling on the metro rail line, kites getting caught and cocktail explosives being found.
