The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has warned against contacting or making financial transactions with any individual or organization regarding sending workers to Malaysia until an official government announcement is made. It has also directed that no medical examinations or related financial transactions take place before the worker-sending process officially begins.
The ministry issued this directive in an urgent warning notice on Wednesday.
The notice said people must refrain from contacting or engaging in any financial transactions with any individual, organization or middleman regarding sending workers to Malaysia until an official notice is published by the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment. Otherwise, there is a risk of being defrauded.
Issuing strict instructions to recruiting agencies as well, the ministry said no agency may sign contracts with workers seeking to go to Malaysia before government approval and an official notice are issued. Agencies must also refrain from collecting any worker’s passport, arranging medical examinations, or accepting or transacting any money.
The ministry said any information or complaints regarding travel to Malaysia can be reported to the Probashi Call Center at 16135 from within the country and +8809610102030 from abroad. It also urged people to contact Malaysia-focal-point officer Md. Hedayetul Islam Mondol directly by phone, email or mobile for necessary information.
The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment said that once the government issues an official decision and directive on sending workers to Malaysia, it will be announced promptly through media and official government channels. Until then, it has urged everyone concerned not to take part in any financial transaction or process based on rumors or unauthorized information.
