As the quarterfinals of the FIFA 2026 World Cup played out, France and Spain booked their places in the semifinals – and Morocco, captained by Ashraf Hakimi, went out at the hands of France. The defeat left Bollywood model and actress Nora Fatehi visibly heartbroken, and she wept openly in the stadium.

Unable to hold back her emotions after Morocco’s exit, Fatehi began to cry in the stadium stands, and a video of the moment went viral on social media, showing the actress wiping away tears as a friend beside her offered comfort. Fatehi had watched every one of the African side’s matches from the stands. Reaching the stadium had not been easy: caught in heavy traffic on the way in Boston, she eventually got out of her car and walked part of the way to make it to her seat before kickoff.

She had left the ground smiling after each of Morocco’s wins, but was deeply upset by the loss to France. Having reached the quarterfinals by fighting past strong opponents, the team could not produce another surprise against France, and their dream run ended in a 2-0 defeat to goals from Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele. Even after the loss, Fatehi expressed her pride in the Moroccan team, praising the fighting spirit of the whole squad, and of captain Ashraf Hakimi in particular.

So why did the Indian model and actress cry over the defeat of the North African side? The reason, according to widespread speculation, is that Fatehi’s rumored partner is the Morocco captain, Ashraf Hakimi. For the past year, social-media users have speculated about a relationship between Hakimi and Fatehi, though neither has commented publicly on the matter.
