Saudi Arabia has issued an urgent notice on expatriates’ work permits. The Qiwa platform, under the country’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, said only two days remained until the set deadline for renewing work permits.
Qiwa said that from 1 July, the process of automatically removing workers whose work permits had been expired for more than three months from their employers’ records would begin. The last day for employers to renew a work permit or transfer a worker is 30 June.
If a worker’s permit is not renewed for more than three months, the worker will be automatically removed from the establishment’s records. If a worker is employed without a valid work permit, the employer must bear all financial liabilities accrued up to the day the worker was employed.
The platform urged employers to complete the necessary process to renew workers’ permits before the deadline.
