Three people have died of dengue across the country over the past 24 hours, and 372 were hospitalised in that period. This takes the total number of people killed by dengue fever this year to 37. The Directorate General of Health Services gave the information in a press release on Monday (20 July).
The release said that of those affected by dengue in the past 24 hours, 67 were hospitalised in the Barisal division, 54 in Chattogram, 103 in the Dhaka division (outside the city corporations), 22 in the Dhaka North City Corporation, 52 in the Dhaka South City Corporation, 43 in Khulna, 21 in Mymensingh, four in Rajshahi and six in the Rangpur division.
It added that a total of 10,857 people have been affected by dengue so far this year, of whom 60.9 percent are men and 39.1 percent women, and that 9,786 people have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
