China has added 20 Japanese companies to a blacklist with the aim of halting exports of dual-use goods — those usable for both military and civilian purposes — on Monday.
The list includes Japan’s National Institute for Defense Studies, China’s commerce ministry said on Monday, the news agency AFP reports.
“In order to safeguard national security and interests and to fulfil international obligations including preventing the proliferation of weapons, it has been decided to add 20 Japanese entities to the export-control blacklist,” the ministry said in a statement, adding that China believed these entities had contributed to enhancing Japan’s military capability.
