Neymar took part in training for the first time at the World Cup. He was seen running at Brazil’s training ground in New Jersey on June 16. It marks an important step on his road to recovery.

The 34-year-old forward injured his right calf muscle late in May. He had been receiving treatment since arriving in the United States. He has not yet returned to full training.

Neymar was unable to play in Brazil’s first match, against Morocco. That match ended in a 1-1 draw. As Brazil’s all-time leading scorer, his absence was a big blow to the side.

Neymar had not played a match for the national team since 2023. There was much speculation over whether he would make this World Cup squad. In the end, proving the rumors true, Neymar secured his place in the World Cup squad.

Brazil’s next match is on Friday in Philadelphia, against Haiti. After that, on June 24 in Miami, they face Scotland in their final Group C match. Whether Neymar can fully recover in that time is now the biggest question.
