Bangladesh won six prestigious awards at the international trade event ’10th China-South Asia Expo and 30th China Kunming Import and Export Fair 2026′, which concluded in Kunming, the capital of China’s Yunnan province — a major success for the country.
The information was announced in a press release on Tuesday.
The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) received the ‘Outstanding Exhibition Organizer’ award.
The award was received by EPB director Mohammad Wares Hossain and deputy director Md. Rafiqul Islam, in the presence of Ridwanur Rahman, first secretary (commercial) at the Bangladesh Consulate in Kunming.
This year, Bangladesh won a total of six awards across four categories. Three of the country’s organizations — Aarong, Sustainable Bangladesh and Clay Image — were honored as ‘Best Exhibitor’. Bangladesh also won awards in the ‘Best Pavilion’ and ‘Best Booth Design’ categories.
Sun Ming, deputy director general of the Yunnan provincial commerce department, attended the closing ceremony as chief guest and handed out the awards to the winners.
The fair and the Bangladesh pavilion, as the theme country, were inaugurated on June 11 at the Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Center in Kunming, managed by the Export Promotion Bureau and supported by the Bangladesh Consulate in Kunming. The inauguration was performed by Bangladesh’s Commerce, Industries, Textiles and Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir and the governor of China’s Yunnan province, Wang Yubo.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Deputy Speaker of the Bangladesh National Parliament Barrister Kaiser Kamal; MPs Akhtar Hossain, Md. Khaled Hossain Mahbub and Sultana Jasmine; Bangladesh’s Ambassador to China Md. Nazmul Islam; EPB Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Mohammad Hasan Arif; the Bangladesh Consul General in Kunming; senior officials of the commerce ministry and EPB; and leaders of various business associations.
At the fair’s sideline event ‘Big Market for All: Export to China’, EPB Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Mohammad Hasan Arif presented a keynote paper on Bangladesh’s business and investment potential in China.
This year, a record 175 representatives from 101 Bangladeshi organizations took part in the fair. About 2,300 exhibitors from 68 countries joined the international trade fair. A ‘Bangladesh Day’ was celebrated on the second day of the fair.
