Twenty-two companies from Bangladesh are taking part in the D-8 Halal Expo 2026 held in Indonesia. A business delegation of roughly 40 members is also participating in the expo for the occasion.
This reflects the interest of Bangladesh’s private sector in expanding trade and investment cooperation with Indonesia and other D-8 member states.
The information was shared in a press release sent by the Indonesian Embassy in Dhaka on Thursday.
The release said the Indonesian Embassy in Dhaka and the Indonesia-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) jointly arranged for Bangladeshi businesspeople to participate in the expo. Through coordination with various stakeholders, participation was secured for 22 Bangladeshi companies and around 40 business representatives.
IBCCI assisted in setting up the Bangladesh Pavilion at this year’s expo. With support from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), various products from Bangladeshi companies and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) were displayed there. The pavilion is serving as an important platform to showcase Bangladesh’s export potential and strengthen bilateral trade relations with Indonesia.
Indonesia’s ambassador to Bangladesh, Listyowati, and IBCCI president Mohammad Riaz Ali were present at the inaugural ceremony of the Bangladesh Pavilion.
During the expo, the ambassador met with Bangladeshi exhibitors and business representatives and assisted with business matchmaking activities to boost trade, investment and economic cooperation.
Indonesia’s Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa and the country’s deputy foreign minister, Muhammad Anis Matta, also visited the IBCCI stall during this time.
Several of Bangladesh’s leading companies took part as exhibitors at the expo, including Meghna Group of Industries, PRAN-RFL Group, Akij Food and Beverages, and Ellient. Their participation highlighted Bangladesh’s interest in expanding regional business partnerships in the halal industry, food and beverages, fashion, manufacturing and consumer goods sectors.
The release further said Indonesia currently holds the chairmanship of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, of which Bangladesh is a member. The D-8 Halal Expo 2026 is being held as one of the flagship programs under Indonesia’s chairmanship, aimed at expanding the halal industry, boosting trade and investment, and further strengthening economic cooperation among member states.
The Indonesian Embassy said it would continue working with the governments, business organizations and private sectors of both countries to expand trade, investment and business partnerships in the future. It expressed hope that Bangladesh’s delegation’s participation would help boost bilateral trade, build new business networks, and further strengthen the sustainable economic partnership between Bangladesh and Indonesia.
