BDESH News,
Workers blocked roads in Dinajpur demanding an end to illegal toll collection at the truck terminal. After four hours, the blockade was lifted following assurances that toll collection and extortion would stop. On Thursday (May 10), from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., trucks, covered vans, and pickup drivers enforced the blockade at various points in the city. During this time, traffic in Dinajpur city came to a standstill.
It is learned that illegal toll collection has been going on under the guise of tolls at the Dinajpur Truck Terminal for a month. In protest, a joint initiative by truck and cargo owners and workers in Dinajpur district enforced a road blockade at eight points in the city.

Four hours later, the issue gained traction due to the intervention of Syed Jahangir Alam, the parliament member from Dinajpur-3 constituency.

On the other hand, an emergency meeting was held by the Dinajpur District Administration regarding the workers’ strike. The meeting decided that all toll collections at the Dinajpur Truck Terminal would remain suspended until a new order was issued. The decision to keep toll collection suspended was announced in an order signed by Dinajpur Municipal Administrator Ritaj Uddin.
