TEL AVIV — Israel is again seeking an opportunity to carry out military operations against Iran and has communicated that position clearly to the United States, according to a report by the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (IPBC).
The broadcaster said Tel Aviv’s military and security policymakers believe that ongoing talks with Iran or any possible settlement amount to nothing more than a stalling tactic.
Israel is planning fresh strikes inside Iran by taking advantage of current tensions in the Persian Gulf region, the report said. To that end, U.S. and Israeli military officials drew up a new list of potential targets last month, with priority given to Iran’s crude oil refineries, energy infrastructure and related installations, according to the broadcaster.
The IPBC report said that in recent messages sent to Washington, Israel made clear it is looking for any way to launch a renewed attack on Iran. As Middle East tensions rise, fresh concern is building in the international community. Analysts said that if diplomatic efforts fail, the conflict could spread further across the region.
