Fish-farm worker dies of electrocution in Mollahat

A fish-farm worker named Mainul Islam Mohin, 32, died after being electrocuted in Mollahat, Bagerhat. The incident occurred on Monday (June 15) in the Nonadanga area of the upazila. Mainul, the deceased, was the son of Rafiqul Islam of Sonakur village in Magia union of Kachua upazila in Bagerhat. He looked after the fish farm of businessman Sheikh Hemayet Uddin, living at the farm residence in the Nonadanga area. He lived there with his family, locals said.

Police and locals said that on Monday morning he was electrocuted suddenly while fixing a machine to supply water to the farm. Family members and locals rescued him and took him to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty there declared him dead.

On receiving the news, Fakirhat Model Police Station police went to the upazila health complex and prepared an initial inquest report. The body was later sent to the morgue of Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. Kazi Ramzanul Haque, officer-in-charge of Mollahat police station, said: “I have heard the news of the death of a man named Mahin by electrocution. Legal action will be taken if a written complaint is filed.”
