A woman, Kalyani Adhikari, 59, has been killed when a battery-run easybike crashed into a parked truck in Dumuria, Khulna. A 10-year-old girl was seriously injured after falling from the easybike.
The accident happened at about 8pm on Friday (16 October) at Naraniya bus terminal on the Jessore-Satkhira highway.
Kalyani Adhikari was the wife of Ananda Adhikari of Shahapara in Keshabpur upazila town. The girl is from the same area.
Police said an easybike was taking passengers from Chuknagar to Keshabpur at about 8pm on Friday. When it reached the Naraniya bus terminal area, 500 metres from Chuknagar bus stand, it hit a truck parked ahead. Kalyani Adhikari fell from the easybike and died on the spot. The girl also fell and was seriously injured.
Sergeant Dipu, in charge of Kharnia (Chuknagar) highway police station, confirmed the accident. He said the truck drove off right after the crash, but the easybike is in the custody of the highway police station.
