Dr Nahrin Islam Khan, a professor in the Department of Geography and Environment at Jahangirnagar University, has been appointed chief information commissioner of the Information Commission.
Journalists S A M Mahfuzur Rahman and Khan Mohammad Abul Hossain have been appointed information commissioners at the same time.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued two notifications on Saturday (17 October).
The notifications said the President made the appointments under section 15(1) of the Right to Information Act, 2009.
The rank, pay, allowances and other benefits of the chief information commissioner and the information commissioners will be set by the government, the notifications said. The order, issued in the public interest, takes effect immediately.
