A mothers’ gathering has been held in Mirpur, Kushtia. It took place on Friday morning at No 10 Kharara Government Primary School in Bahalbaria union of Mirpur upazila.
The chief guest was Abdul Gafur, member of parliament for Kushtia-2 (Mirpur-Bheramara). Special guests included Professor Jomarat Ali, Jamaat’s candidate for Mirpur upazila parishad chairman, and Advocate Anwar Hossain Mithu, Jamaat’s candidate for Bahalbaria chairman, among other leaders. Mirpur assistant upazila education officer Md Nahid Akbar presided.
Abdul Gafur said: “Our children are the future of the country. Our families, our country and our nation will depend on them, so we must raise them to be model people. We must keep an eye on children’s studies.”
“Among the guardians of pupils in primary education, mothers matter most,” he said. “A mother is not only a guardian but the first teacher in the lives of young pupils. Small children first get their basic education from their mothers at home. That is why our teacher recruitment rules provide for mostly women teachers to be hired, and mothers are given priority in our work plans.”
“The better mothers guide their children, the better the children will grow up,” he added. “Alongside academic learning, we must stress religious and human values. Being a good student is not enough; children must also be good people, and in this mothers play the main role.”
