A review of 767 domains in 15 sectors of the country found credentials for almost all of them on the web. There was evidence that login details of at least 17,362 users and more than 18 lakh user records were exposed.
The findings were presented on Thursday afternoon at a seminar titled “Bangladesh Cyber Resilience Briefing 2026”, held to raise cybersecurity awareness and organised by Brain Station 23 at BRAC Centre in Mohakhali, Dhaka. About 150 senior representatives from banking, telecoms, technology, government and academia, regulators and cybersecurity professionals took part.
Cybersecurity expert Tanvir Hasan Zoha said: “CyberStation is doing important work on cybersecurity. I have had the chance to use the technology they have built. It can play an important role in raising awareness of cyber risks and in developing effective strategies to prevent and deal with them.”
A panel discussion was also held on the risk of Bangladeshi data being exposed on the dark web and how to tackle it. Taking part were Professor Dr Mohammad Shahriar Rahman, adviser to the University Grants Commission (UGC); Mohammad Shamsul Haque, head of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Special Response Unit; Md Imran Khan, joint secretary (ICT) at Bangladesh Bank; and tech specialist Mahtab Uddin Ahmed. The discussion stressed preventing misuse of data and coordinated action against such risks.
Mohibbul Moktadir Tanim, head of cybersecurity services at CyberStation, said: “We cannot manage risks we cannot see. Our aim is to help organisations understand what information has been exposed and act before criminals can misuse it.”
