Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) president Tabith Awal and four vice-presidents paid a courtesy call on FIFA president Gianni Infantino at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

During an hour-long meeting, the BFF officials raised a range of issues facing football in Bangladesh.

The president of world football’s governing body stopped over in Dhaka on his way to Bhutan.

BFF vice-president Wahid Uddin Chowdhury Happy, chairman of the federation’s government relations committee, said: “The president and all of us raised various issues of Bangladesh football. He was told about the FIFA-funded technical centre being built in Cox’s Bazar. He also gave preliminary assurance that FIFA’s financial support could be increased if needed.”

Infantino left Dhaka for Thimphu at 2:50pm. He will spend two days in Bhutan and may stop in Bangladesh again on his way back on the 20th, though BFF officials will then be in Japan for a special AFC congress.

The FIFA president last visited Dhaka on a one-day trip in 2017.
