Deepak, the founder and head of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), had called a “Tiranga Udao”, or “fly the flag”, programme in Central Park at Connaught Place in Delhi to protest against the arrest of Ashutosh Ranka and Saurabh Das. But police detained him before he could leave home to join it.

The programme was due to take place at 5pm on Friday. Before then, a large police force surrounded Deepak’s home in Delhi. Police had reportedly already served him a notice to call off the programme.

The programme was called to protest against the arrest of Ashutosh Ranka and Saurabh Das, but because of the police Deepak could not join it.

The incident has caused fresh discussion in Delhi’s political circles. But it is not known under which law Deepak was detained, where he was taken or what explanation the police have given.
