This policy explains what information BD Global Times collects, why, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. Each section opens with a summary in Bengali; the full policy follows in English, and where the two differ the English text applies.

১. সাইট ভিজিট · Visiting the site
যেকোনো ওয়েবসাইটের মতো আমাদের সার্ভার প্রতিটি অনুরোধের আইপি ঠিকানা, ব্রাউজার, দেখা পেজ ও সময় লিখে রাখে — নিরাপত্তা ও ত্রুটি সমাধানের জন্য। এগুলো সর্বোচ্চ দুই মাস রাখা হয়।
Like any website, our web server records each request it receives: your IP address, your browser and device type, the page requested, the page you came from, and the time. We use these records to keep the site secure, to block abuse and automated traffic, and to fix faults. They are kept for up to two months and then deleted, unless a specific record is needed for longer to investigate a security incident. Our lite edition (/lite/) runs no analytics and sets no cookies.

কতজন পড়ছেন ও কোন খবর পড়ছেন তা বুঝতে আমরা Google Analytics ব্যবহার করি। আপনি সম্মতি না দেওয়া পর্যন্ত এটি আপনার ডিভাইসে কোনো কুকি বা শনাক্তকারী রাখে না; কুকি ছাড়াই শুধু ভিজিট গণনা করে। সম্মতি দিলে কুকি ব্যবহার করে ফিরতি ভিজিট চেনে।
We use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google, to understand how many people read us and which stories they read. It runs in Google’s consent mode. Until you accept cookies it stores nothing on your device — no cookie and no identifier — and sends Google only a cookieless signal that a page was viewed, with the time, the page you came from, general browser and device information, and a coarse location worked out from your IP address; Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses. If you accept, it also sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_…, lasting up to two years) so that a return visit can be recognised, and Google may use Google Signals to connect visits by people signed in to a Google account with ad personalisation turned on, for aggregate reports about our audience. We keep event-level analytics data for two months and user-level data for fourteen months. Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

ফেসবুক ও ইনস্টাগ্রাম থেকে কতজন পাঠক আসেন তা মাপতে আমরা মেটা পিক্সেল ব্যবহার করি — শুধু আপনি সম্মতি দিলে। সম্মতি না দিলে এটি চালুই হয় না।
Only if you accept cookies, we load the Meta Pixel, a service of Meta Platforms. It tells Meta that a page or article was viewed on our site, or that someone signed up for our newsletter, so that we can measure how many readers reach us through Facebook and Instagram and whether our posts there are working. Meta may set a cookie (_fbp, lasting up to three months) and may connect this information to a Facebook or Instagram account under its own policy, including to show BD Global Times posts to people who have visited our site. If you decline, the Meta Pixel does not load at all. Meta’s privacy policy: facebook.com/privacy/policy.
৪. নিউজলেটার · Newsletter
নিউজলেটারে সাইন আপ করলে আপনার ইমেইল (নাম দিলে নামও), কোন পেজ থেকে ও কখন সাইন আপ করেছেন, এবং অপব্যবহার রোধে আইপি ঠিকানা ও ব্রাউজারের ধরন আমাদের নিজস্ব সার্ভারে থাকে। আমরা তা বিক্রি করি না, কাউকে দিই না। যেকোনো সময় বাদ দিতে বলতে পারেন।
If you sign up for our morning briefing, we store your email address, your name if you give it, the page you signed up from and when, and your IP address and browser type (to prevent abuse and to keep a record of your consent). This is kept on our own server. We do not sell it or give it to anyone, and no email-marketing company receives it. We will use it only to send you the briefing you asked for and messages about it. The briefing is still being prepared and no issue has been sent yet; every issue will carry a one-click unsubscribe link. Until then, and at any time, you can email us and we will remove you. We keep your details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.

If you turn on breaking-news alerts on our Follow page, your browser gives us a push subscription: an address at your browser maker’s push service (for example Google, Mozilla, Apple or Microsoft) and the keys needed to encrypt alerts to it. We store it with your browser type and language in order to send alerts, which are delivered through that push service. It does not contain your name, email address or IP address. You can turn alerts off at any time on the Follow page or in your browser’s settings for our site; a subscription that is turned off, or stops working, is marked inactive and receives nothing further.
৬. নামাজের সময় · Prayer times

The prayer-times strip at the top of our pages is filled in by your browser asking the Aladhan service (api.aladhan.com) directly, for a city worked out from your device’s time-zone setting. We never ask for your location and never use your precise location. As with any website your browser contacts, Aladhan receives your IP address with that request. The result is kept on your device for the day.

To work properly the site keeps a few small items in your browser’s own storage — not cookies, and not sent to us — such as your cookie choice, your language (Bengali or English), banners you have closed, the day’s prayer times, and a technical note that helps the site recover when a new version is released. They are not used to track you. Staff who sign in to our publishing system receive the login cookies that system needs; readers do not.
৮. ইমেইল, আবেদন ও অন্য সাইটের কনটেন্ট · Emails, applications and embedded content
ইমেইল করলে উত্তর দেওয়ার জন্য আমরা তা রাখি। চাকরি ও ইন্টার্নশিপের আবেদন নেওয়া হয় Jotform-এর মাধ্যমে। প্রতিবেদনে যুক্ত ইউটিউব বা ফেসবুকের মতো বাইরের কনটেন্ট সেসব প্রতিষ্ঠানের নীতিতে চলে।
If you email us, we keep your message and address in order to reply and, for corrections and complaints, as a record. Internship and job applications linked from our site are collected through forms hosted by Jotform, whose privacy policy applies to what you submit there; we receive your application from Jotform. Articles sometimes embed material from other services, such as YouTube videos or Facebook and X posts; those services may collect information as if you had visited them directly.

কুকি-সিদ্ধান্ত বদলানো · Changing your cookie choice
প্রতিটি পাতার নিচে “কুকি সেটিংস” থেকে যেকোনো সময় সিদ্ধান্ত বদলাতে পারেন।
You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing consent stops the Meta Pixel and returns Google Analytics to its cookieless mode; cookies already set can be deleted in your browser’s settings.

Our servers are in Montreal, Canada, run by our hosting provider, GloboTech Communications, which stores data on our behalf. Google and Meta process the information described above on their own systems, which may be in the United States and other countries. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we share it with nobody else unless the law requires it — for example, under a valid court order.

Every page is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to personal information is limited to the staff who need it, and we keep regular backups so that it is not lost. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach put your information at risk, we would tell you, and the relevant authorities, as the law requires.

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it or stop using it; you can withdraw consent at any time. Email info@bdglobaltimes.com. We will answer within 30 days, and may need to confirm that a request comes from the person the information is about. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or to the data-protection authority where you live.

Our site is a general news service and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal information; if you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we will delete them.
