A joint delegation from the British High Commission and Democracy International (DI) paid a courtesy call on home minister Salahuddin Ahmed.
The meeting took place on Thursday (September 24) at the minister’s office in the home ministry at the Secretariat. The four-member delegation was led by Louis Bennon, governance adviser at the British High Commission, and included Ryan Duncanson, political counsellor at the British High Commission in Dhaka, and Aminul Ehsan, chief of party, and Lipika Biswas, senior programme director, of Democracy International Bangladesh.
The meeting discussed developing the parliamentary democratic system, the formation and effectiveness of parliamentary standing committees, and the proposed Cyber Security (Amendment) Act, 2026.
Views were also exchanged on ways to make parliamentary democracy more effective and stronger.
Dr Ziauddin Ahmed, additional secretary (political and immigration) at the home ministry, and other ministry officials were present.
