The US State Department has ordered non-emergency US government employees working in Saudi Arabia and their family members to leave the country, citing security risks.
The US embassy in Riyadh said in a post on X that the order took effect on October 23, 2026.
Non-emergency government staff and their families have been told to leave Saudi Arabia because of security risks.
The embassy also said that, following attacks on airports, US government employees in Saudi Arabia must get special permission from the chief of mission to use any airport in the country.
US citizens have also been warned about possible attacks on airports in Saudi Arabia, airspace closures, flight cancellations and travel disruption. The embassy advised them to take the greatest care if they decide to use the country’s airports.
