The weather has been quite hot for some days. Cheap chargers or those of unknown quality charge slowly and carry a high risk of overheating. So try to use the phone maker’s own charger for the phone you have, which will keep it from heating up unduly. At excessive temperatures a phone can shut down and then restart on its own, sometimes several times.
If a charger shows any visible problem, such as a loose connection, a cracked plug or a split cable, fix it first and quickly. Otherwise the charger can overheat and burn out the circuits inside the device, which happens all the time. When the temperature is high and you are away from air conditioning, the handset will certainly feel hotter while charging. Unplug the device before it reaches a full charge.
Often a phone is left plugged in by mistake even after it has finished charging. If that is a habit, keep a closer eye on it now. With older phones, unplug the charger before the battery reaches 100 percent, so the phone does not heat up.
